Happy Birthday Mama Jane

Today is my wonderful grandmother’s birthday.  I will not reveal her age, but she used to always tell me she is the same age Elvis would have been if he were alive today.  I have to brag because my Mama Jane is one of the most beautiful and kind people I have ever known.  My life is so blessed because of her and my grandfather, Max.  They both have been such a extraordinary Christian example in my life.  I truly believe that Mama Jane is a person who has a direct connection with God and she is a fierce prayer warrior.

I am also so thankful for my grandmother because of her I have my amazing mother.  The most beautiful kind person also raised the other most beautiful kind person I know, my mom.

Something Beautiful

The McCormick house just became a whole lot prettier since we added a beautiful piece of artwork by Paula McLarty.  Paula is so talented and we are so thrilled to have a piece of her work in our house.  Not only is she talented she is also one of my favorite people ever.  She lights up every place she goes and it is always such a joy to be around.  Her beauty inside and out really shows in her artwork.  You can see more of her work here.
Now I get to show off my personal piece of Paula McLarty art.

She was able to take everything Jason and me love about Key West and put it in one painting.  Everything in this painting just screams Key West down to the smallest detail of the chickens that are everywhere.
Jason and I will always treasure this painting and it is one of my favorite things in my whole house.
THANK YOU, PAULA!  We love you!!!

And Put Some Feel Good In My Soul

This weekend the Tacketts surprised us with an invitation to the Eric Church concert in Southaven and of course we accepted!  The concert was so much fun and it was great to see Martha and Justin.  Eric Church puts on a good show and we also got to see Brantley Gilbert.  It wasn’t but a few years ago that Eric Church played a free concert in the Grove and now he is drawing the largest crowd ever at the Landers Center in Southaven.  Another plus to the show was our friend Meghan’s brother is the lead guitar for Eric Church so it was really neat getting to watch him perform.

Our favorite part of the concert was when Eric Church was on stage by himself with a black backdrop and he sang some of his older songs acoustic.

My favorite song of his is “Smoke a Little Smoke” and he sang that at the very end as his encore.

One of his last songs was “Springsteen” and he had everybody turn on their cell phones (no more lighters in this day and age) and it looked really neat.

“On the day I die
I know where I’m gonna go
Me and Jesus got that part worked out
I’ll wait at the gates til his face I see
And stand in a long line of sinners like me
I’ll stand in a long line of sinners like me”

New Years 2012

For New Years Eve Jason and I decided to just relax.  We went to the Hibachi place in Oxford with Ron and Paula.  After a wonderful dinner we went home and watched a movie.  After the movie we managed to stay up long enough to watch the ball drop in NYC and I think we were both asleep before it reached 12 in Taylor, MS!
The next day we started the new year off by attending church and then finishing up taking down Christmas decorations.

Last picture of 2011! Paula and I at the restaurant.
